Summary

This facility was constructed to promote the entertainment and technology sectors. This project included the design and construction of a sound stage, recording studio and interactive theatre in the facility. The facility provides a location for developing new and expanding existing IT and media companies with the provision of incubator space and extensive office space for the companies. This facility includes innovative mechanical systems including geothermal heat pump system for lower levels and under floor ventilation system for upper levels for flexibility to accommodate expanding businesses.

The Audio Production Studio is a state of the art recording suite for the television and media industry. A geothermal heat pump system is incorporated into the design and acoustically treated to allow production while HVAC system is operational. The building includes a 50 seat interactive theatre setup as a multimedia/interactive/presentation theatre. A geothermal heat pump system provides heating, air conditioning and ventilation to this space. Newcap Radio (Hot 105.5 and Ocean 100) have live studios on the main level of the building and can be seen from the street. Sound attenuation between spaces to allow live broadcasting was imperative.

MCA Consultants Inc. were the prime mechanical design consultant for this project.
